Product Details

Magnesium (atomic symbol: Mg, atomic number: 12) is a Group 2 element of the third period in the periodic table with an atomic mass of 24.3050. Magnesium is the eighth most abundant element in the Earth's crust and the fourth most common element in the entire Earth. In its pure form, magnesium exhibits a shiny gray metallic appearance and is highly reactive. It can be found in minerals such as magnesite, dolomite, carnallite, brucite, olivine, and talc. Magnesium-based master alloys, also known as magnesium-based intermediate alloys, are based on magnesium ingots with a purity of >99.95%, supplemented with other high-purity metals. Magnesium-based intermediate alloys have uniform and stable compositions, meeting the requirements for controlling the composition, structure, and performance enhancement of magnesium alloys.

Magnesium ingots are a new type of lightweight and corrosion-resistant metal material developed in the 20th century. They are mainly used in the production of magnesium alloys, aluminum alloys, steel desulfurization, aerospace, and military industries. Magnesium ingots have high specific strength, high specific stiffness, good damping, and good machinability.

High-purity magnesium ingots can be used in metal refining (production of magnesium alloys), medical, chemical, military, instrumentation manufacturing, and other fields.

Packaging:

1MT/Mg pallet, covered with plastic bags. Ingot Weight: 15kg ± 0.5kg; 7.5kg ± 0.5kg; 300g ± 50g

Production Process of Magnesium Ingot

Crushed qualified materials (30-40mm) of dolomite are obtained using a crusher, followed by sintering in a rotary kiln to produce calcined dolomite. After cooling with a cooling machine, the calcined dolomite is ground into powder with a ball mill and then pressed into balls with a pelletizer. The crushed dolomite is uniformly mixed with silicon iron powder (containing 75% silicon) and fluorite powder. The mixture is placed in a heat-resistant stainless steel reduction trough, placed in a reduction furnace, and reduced under vacuum at 1200-1250°C and a vacuum degree of 1.33Pa to obtain crude magnesium. After solvent refining, casting, and surface treatment, finished magnesium ingots are obtained.
